Maizline Esther, Vice Chairperson of Seychelles Patients Association joined the management of the Ministry of Health and Health Care Agency on the 8th October, one day ahead of the actual of the actual commemoration, to commemorate World Palliative Care Day at the Hospice at North East Point.

She presented gift hampers to the six patients at the hospice and vegetables to the staff working there.
The gifts to the patients and staff were possible through the generosity of super markets Chaka Brothers and Throwbathy and Lady G (a small gift company). Three farmers, Jean-Paul Geoffroy, Joe-Joe Pool and Jacques Matombe, all three from the district of Anse Royale, donated a wide assortment of vegetables. Seychelles Patients Association approached these sponsors to request their support for this occasion.
World Palliative Care Day focuses attention on palliative care and hospice care. Palliative care is the pinnacle of person-centred and family-centred care. It places great emphasis on the physical, emotional and spiritual comfort of the suffering human being and maintains their dignity and utmost respect and compassion for them at a time when they expect no escape from a life-threatening illness.
