The Association’s main purpose is to mobilize patients, to empower them on matters that concern them, to advocate for patient issues including patients rights, patients safety, patient-centered and family-centered care and care quality improvement.
Seychelles Patients Association addresses all matters that are of relevance to patients and their families including matters within the social care (home care) and public health spheres (including prevention and early detection of diseases and promotion of healthy lifestyle).
In order to do the above, the Association relentlessly raises funds and goodwill from kind-hearted individuals and organizations who are willing to associate themselves with our projects.
Seychelles Patients Association works both with persons who are entirely healthy (before they become patients) and with patients across all disease areas.
The Association interprets high care quality as care that focuses on successfully promoting, protecting and restoring the health and welfare of all patients and achieving excellence in equity, efficiency, effectiveness, timeless, safety for the patient and person-centeredness of care.
The Association believes that true high care quality depends also on knowledgeable and empowered patients and their families. The Association believes that it also depends on professionals (including health policy makers) who work tirelessly to facilitate meaningful communication between all the various parties through the right structures and processes.
The Association believes also that true high care quality care must seek to achieve optimum partnership and understanding between care givers and care receivers.
Unlike other patient advocacy associations in Seychelles, Seychelles Patients Association does not limit its work only to one specific condition or organ. Neither does it limit its actions to the health sector.
It is evident from the foregoing that Seychelles Patients Association is a solidarity association or a friends of patients association, working intensely to create and perpetuate a kinder, gentler relationship between care professionals, care-givers and care-receivers.
In the end, the association wants to achieve a better, seamless, more patient-friendly and family-friendly health and social care system in Seychelles. This is the impact it wants to help to create.
